The .EU Registry has laid down the following policies for Registering or Renewing domain names:
1. The .EU Registry allows Registration/Renewal of a domain name for only one year. However, Gossimer allows you to place a Registration/Renewal action for multiple years. If you choose to register/renew your .EU domain name for more than one year, then Gossimer will Renew the domain name at its end for the number of years selected. You can be rest assured that once this one year term in completed, Gossimer will Renew your domain name for a further year, until the renewal term you had requested ends.
2. .EU domain names can only contain alphabets a to z, numbers 1 to 9 and hyphens. However, domain names can not have two hyphens in the third place.

1. A .EU domain name displays only three Contacts (there is no Administrative Contact) when performing a Whois lookup:
-
Registrant Contact – This contact represents the owner of the domain name.
-
Onsite Contact – This contact is equivalent to the Technical Contact shown in all other domain names (other than .eu like .com, .net, .org, etc.). The .EU Registry allows the creation of a single Onsite Contact for all domain names registered through any Registrar. Therefore, this Contact can not be modified through the Gossimer system.
-
Billing Contact – The .EU Registry allows the creation of a single Billing Contact for all domain names registered through any Registrar. Therefore, this Contact can not be modified through the Gossimer system.
2. General Contacts used for other domain name extensions (TLDs) can not be used for a .EU domain name. A .EU domain name has a separate Contacts database, consisting of .EU Registrant Contact(s).
3. As per the .EU Registry Guidelines, you cannot change the name of the owner later for free.
4. While mentioning your Contact information, you need to select the appropriate Registrant Type.
Different Registrant Types
-
Individual – Upon selecting this option, you will prompted for only your Name. In the Whois of your .eu domain name(s), only your Name will be displayed as the Registrant Contact.
-
Company – Upon selecting this option, you will prompted for both your Company Name as well as your Name. In the Whois of your .eu domain name(s), both your Company Name as well as your Name will be displayed as the Registrant Contact.
