

Follow the steps mentioned below to upload files for your website using the SmartFTP client.
1. Open SmartFTP. Under the File menu, click New Remote Browser.

2. Type in your domain name as Host. Also type in the FTP Username and Password. Make sure the Port is set to 21. Click OK to connect to the server.

Once connected, you will be displayed a pane which lists all the files and folders under your website.

3. Double-click the web folder to open it.

4. Under the File menu, click New Local Browser. This will open another pane listing your local files and folders.

5. Open the directory containing the files for your website..

6. Select the files to upload and click Upload button to upload the files onto the web server.

There are two ways in which the data connection mode can be modified.
A. Global Settings
a. Under Tools menu, click Settings.

b. Under the Connection dialog, change the Mode in the Data Connection section from Passive Mode (PASV) to Active Mode (PORT) or vice versa. Click OK to save the changes.

This change will affect all the sites for whom the data connection mode was set by default.
B. Favorite Item Setting
I. Under the Favorites menu, click Edit Favorites.

II. Select the site under Quick Connect folder, right-click and then click Properties.

III. Go to the Connection dialog and change the Mode in the Data Connection section from Passive Mode (PASV) to Active Mode (PORT) or vice versa. Then, click OK.

The change is saved and active for future FTP sessions of this site.

The process of uploading content for your website using CuteFTP can be split into 2 steps:
Step I: Follow the process described to configure CuteFTP
1. Open CuteFTP. In the menu, go to File -> New ->FTP Site.

2. Enter your site details on the following page. For the Label, type anything to identify your site. For Host address, type in your domain name. Also type the Username and your Password for your domain name.

3. Click OK. Under General FTP sites, you would now see the site you have just configured.

There are two ways in which the data connection mode can be modified.

b. Under the Transfer section, change Data mode to PORT (Active mode) or PASV (Passive mode).

B. For Individual Sites
I. Select the site from the General FTP Sites list, right-click and then click Properties.

II. Under the Type tab, click the Data connection type drop-down menu.

III. Choose User PASV for Passive mode and Use PORT for Active mode. Click OK to save the changes.
The change is saved and active for future FTP sessions of this site.
i. Double-click the site you have configured as described above. This will make a connection to the server. Once you see the server files listed, double-click on web folder. Windows Server users need to open web folder.

ii. In the left pane in CuteFTP, click the Local Drives tab.

iii. Navigate to the location of your website files. Select all the file you would like to upload. Select the files to be uploaded and right-click on the selection and choose Upload.

iv. Your files should now be uploaded.

Follow the steps detailed below to use Windows Mail to send/receive emails.
1. Start Windows Mail. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.

2. In the Internet Accounts window, click Add.

3. Select the Account Type as E-mail Account and click Next.

4. In the Display name field, type the name that you want others to see when you send a message and then click Next.

5. Enter your complete email address of the type user@yourdomainname.com in the Email address field and then click Next.

6. In the Set up e-mail servers section, select the Incoming e-mail server type as POP3 or IMAP. Enter the Incoming mail server as pop.yourdomainname.com if you choose POP and imap.yourdomainname.com if you choose IMAP.
The Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name address in any case will be entered as smtp.yourdomainname.com. Once this is done, click Next.

7. Enter your complete email address such as user@yourdomainname.com in the E-mail username field and the account password in the Password field.

Click Next to continue.
8. Make sure Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time checkbox is checked and click Finish to return to Internet Accounts window.
9. Select your account and then click Properties.

10. This will bring up the account Properties window. Click on the Servers tab.

Under Outgoing Mail Server, select the checkbox adjacent to My server requires authentication and then click Settings.
11. Select the Use the same settings as my incoming mail server radio button and then click OK.

12. In the account Properties window, click OK to save the changes. Your account is now configured to send and receive mails.
Usually, the port used for the Outgoing Mail Server/SMTP Service is 25. However, there might be a situation where your ISP might be blocking the use of port 25 for SMTP service. Many ISPs block port 25 in order to minimize the amount of spam sent using their network. If you are facing issues sending mails using the default port 25, you can confirm with your ISP whether port 25 is indeed blocked by them.
To circumvent this, Gossimer allows you to use an alternate port 2525 for sending mails if port 25 is blocked -
a. In Windows Mail, on the Tools menu, click Accounts.

b. In the Internet Accounts window, select your account and then click Properties.
c. This will bring up the account Properties window. Click on the Advanced tab.

In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field, replace the default port number 25 with the alternate port number 2525.
d. Click OK to save the changes.
